Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Beginning and ending with MLD, this technique will reduce puffiness by promoting movement of lymph fluid.

Intraoral Buccal Massage

Optional intraoral buccal massage helps to loosen up tension around the jaw.

Myofascial Release

External techniques are used to relax the facial tissue, targeting tight areas for release.

These techniques require no chemicals, no lotions, and no injections. Using physical manipulation and body awareness techniques to reset the nervous system and train your tissue to relax on its own, this series of sessions are designed to bring real results.

Q&A:

Who is this service for? These sessions are designed to target facial tension issues which includes, but is not limited to: TMJ Dysfunction (TMJD), jaw clicking, lock jaw, teeth clenching, tension headaches, facial nerve issues, such as Bell’s Palsy, and sinus issues.

Who is this NOT for? To ensure this service is effective and safe, you will need to review contraindications, which can be found upon intake. Please review the contraindications here ahead of booking. If you have questions about whether you should book a session, feel free to reach out by text or email, using the contact information at the bottom of the page.

What should I expect for my first session? We’ll send you a reminder text, but be sure to show up with a clean (makeup-free) face, if you can (otherwise, we’ll provide facial cleanser wipes). No need to dress down. A tank top is recommended to wear for the sessions, where the clavicle/sternum can be accessed. Your therapist will always wear gloves for intraoral work and will change them frequently, and will wear a face mask upon request.

What is the recommended number of treatments? We recommend scheduling 4 sessions about 7-10 days apart (the first should ideally be 60 minutes, then the rest can be 30 minutes or 60 if desired). We will reassess after 4 sessions to determine if more consistent work is required. Occasional maintenance sessions can help if symptoms return, but ideally return sessions will be fewer and farther between! That said, feel free to just try a single session. Many people feel positive results after a single session, but multiple sessions can ensure the results last longer. (See booking options below, including a package deal for first 4 sessions).

Does it hurt? No. This works best by keeping you comfortable. Your mouth will remain closed, with exception to briefly open and close again for intraoral placement. The “pulling” of tissue is not forced, but rather moving at the pace your nervous system will allow. Communication will remain open and available using designated hand signals, but you can always speak up to pause a session and give feedback.

How does this even work? The tissue “remembers” and holds a position that becomes a new “neutral” even when it is tense. These sessions are designed to relax and reshape the tissue to a more comfortable position, so that it relearns how to relax on its own. This relaxation can result in more room for pinched nerves to decompress, and more space around the Temporal Mandibular Joint. There is even a residual benefit of a natural facelift effect.
